Originations Lead System Architect

Position Summary:
The Originations Lead System Architect is a strategic technical systems leader responsible for
configuration standards, system optimization, and governance of the Originations System, with the
autonomy to architect mission-critical configurations that drive business success. This role sets
engineering standards within the Originations Systems, conducts code reviews, and mentors other systems
engineers. The right candidate must possess deep expertise in credit and funding operations in the auto
finance industry and act as the primary liaison between business and technology teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strategic SME: Subject matter expert (SME) for the assigned Loan Originations System, ensuring alignment with business needs, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvement initiatives, including system upgrades, automation, and the integration of new technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Quality & Testing Oversight: Guide QA Testers to ensure testing is completed to excellence.
  • Define test strategies for complex logic to reduce production issues & ensure system stability.
  • System Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of complex business rules, JavaScript formulas (specific to Retail), and API integrations.
  • Engineering Governance: Set engineering standards and conduct code reviews to ensure configuration/development quality and consistency across environments.
  • Business Liaison: Collaborate with business leaders to translate strategic goals into system
  • capabilities, ensuring alignment with credit policies and pricing.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide leadership during system upgrades, new feature rollouts, and partner integrations.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configuration logic, and change history.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in system administration or rules development, in the auto finance or software development/configuration industry.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Leading large projects, implementations, or production support teams.
  • Expert knowledge of LOS/XLOS platforms and lease or retail auto finance workflows, with the ability to design mission-critical configurations.
  • Proficient in JavaScript (specific to Retail), ability to validate API schema design (REST, SOAP), and complex system integration techniques.
  • Advanced root-cause analytical skills to solve high-impact production issues and architect long term structural fixes.
  • Ability to identify and refactor legacy configuration "debt," such as redundant business rules or deprecated formulas, to ensure ongoing system scalability and health.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and provide technical coaching to system engineers.
  • Advanced experience in process mapping and documenting complex system architecture using tools like Visio, MIRO, and Nintex.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Information Technology, or a combination of education and experience.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Previous experience leading Credit or Funding operational functions within the auto finance industry.
  • Previous experience using MS SQL Server and writing complex queries for data analysis.
  • Certifications in system configuration (e.g., defi LOS certifications) or Project Management (PMP/Agile).
  • Previous experience with influencing technology strategy, vendor partnerships, and long-term system modernization efforts.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.

Overtime required for system deployments that must occur after hours
Travel 0-10% - as required on an as needed basis.
